#GirlEatWorld by @angelydub – some strawberries 🍓🍫 dipped in Godiva belgian chocolate in La Grand-Place in Brussels. I love the gold accents on the guildhalls! Grand Place is the central square of Brussels. Containing both public and private building, it has not changed for over three centuries. The place was named UNESCO World Heritage site in 1998 🇧🇪
Plavi sladoled od kokosa, Malta
200th post! 💯💯 Celebrating this occasion with a #GirlEatWorld by my friend @sceetheworld 🍦This is a Blue Coconut ice cream to match the transparent azure water in background, of Blue Lagoon at Conimo island in Malta. I have to admit… I have only heard of Malta from a Haruki Murakami book (The Wind-up Bird Chronicle). Now it's on my to-visit list. Beautiful paradise 👌🏼☀️🏊🏼 🌴
Pecivo sa susamom, Atena, Grčka
#GirlEatWorld by @lena.soh – Koulouri in Athens, Greece 🇬🇷. Koulouri (or κουλούρι in greek alphabet) is a cheap sesame bread ring that locals would grab from street carts for breakfast every morning. It also looks similar to Turkish simit to me! Thanks @lena.soh for this awesome shot. Do yourself a favor and follow her amazing pun-filled european adventure over at ➡️ @lena.soh ⬅️
Hanami Dango (okruglice od rižinog brašna), Kioto, Japan
🍡🍡 Hanami dango amidst sakura blooms in Arashiyama, Kyoto. There are Sakura everywhere in Japan right now! 🌸🌸 I have always wanted to eat Hanami Dango myself and finally got the chance to do so yesterday. This rice cake snack is so important to japanese culture that there is even an emoji for it ->🍡 It's sakura season right now in Japan, which marks the beginning of Spring. Since sakura season only lasts about a month (usually April), it became an important tradition to go to the nearest park with picnic mats and some packed food for sakura viewing – also known as Hanami. Hanami 花見 means "watching flowers" (hana 花 = flowers; mi 見 = eyes / to watch) and Dango means "dumplings / rice cake". Japanese eats dango as snack all-year round, but this variation with pink, white and green is traditionally eaten during Hanami season. The pink color comes from azuki (red bean) and the green is from green tea 🍵! 🍃🌸🌸🍡🌸🌸🍃 #RealLifeEmoji #EmojiIRL #EmojisInTheWild #ShotOniPhone6s
Čokoladno srce, Sydney, Australija
❤️🍫 Chocolate hearts at the Queen Victoria Building, also known as QVB to the locals. Thanks again to @vinhphams for bringing me here! This shopping centre at the central business district of Sydney has gone through many changes. First built in 1898, it went through eras of various uses including housing a concert hall, the city library and at some point became an old decaying building in danger of being demolished. It was finally restored in 1980s and is now one of the most popular shopping arcade in sydney today. I'm glad QVB was not demolished, this building is absolutely charming with its intricate tiles, wooden details and stained glass windows. Most importantly, it also houses some of the city's best cafe and chocolatier, such as Haigh's, Zumbo Patisserie and Koko Black (where i got this chocolate from!)
Klementine, Yangon, Myanmar
Everything is golden here. Last stop in Myanmar, the great Shwedagon in Yangon. There isn't much to do in the capital city, but this pagoda is a must-visit. It's considered the most sacred pagoda in Myanmar and is believed to contain relics of the previous Buddhas. To me the sheer size of the pagoda itself is already amazing, but according to legend Shwedagon was built over 2,600 years ago. Much of burmese history, including the recent ones, took place here. I had more of those small clementines here, because that's literally what I had the entire time here! Locals by them by the bags and they seem to be sold everywhere 🍊🍊
Medenjak, London, Velika Britanija
Happy valentine's day everyone! 💖💘💕💓 This is a #throwback to my time in London last summer! Cute gingerbread man from Cinnamon Tree Bakery from Borough Market (@boroughmarket), eaten at St Paul's Cathedral. When i take pictures for @girleatworld, i take lots of pics each time and choose only one that I like the most to post here. It's hard work! ;) This one didn't make the cut, but I was looking back at my travel pics and remembered how much I liked that gingerbread man…. 🍪 so maybe i'll post a few that didn't quite make the cut some time in the future.
Panda pecivo, kobe, Japan
🐼 a Panda-bun filled with red bean in Kobe, Japan by @op.118! She got it from Kobe's chinatown area, called Nankinmachi – named after Nanjing which used to be the capital of China. "Machi" means town in Japanese! Nankinmachi was developed by Chinese merchants after Kobe Port was opened to foreign trading in 1868 and became a vibrant area bustling with trades and restaurant by early 1920s. And! It's time to announce my next trips – I am off to Lombok to hike Mount Rinjani ⛰🇲🇨 this weekend, then I will be traveling to Jordan 🇯🇴 with @visitjordan for 8 days next weekend. I am sooooo looking forward to it! 😍 #toocutetoeat
Smrznuti jogurt, Malta
Kroasan, Pariz, Francuska
#GirlEatWorld by the wonderful @icecreamofinsta – not an ice cream, more fitting to have a croissant at Eiffel Tower in Paris! But!! did you know that croissant originated in Vienna? The mention of 'kipferl', which is the origin of what we call croissant these days, goes back to 13th century. The french at some point adapted it, added tons of butter and made it cresent-shaped. French version became more popular (because butter) and thus the term croissant which means 'crescent' 🌙 in french! One of the stories of how kipferl made its way to france is through the Austrian princess Marie Antoinette 👑, who were married to the (then) French prince Louis XVI in the 17th century. Marie Antoinette was a fashionable trend-setter royalty – whatever she liked became popular in Paris, and it was said that she loved to have Kipferl for breakfast. How true is this story? i don't know, but i sure am glad the french added more butter! 😛🇫🇷 #ButterFTW #vivelafrance #WhenInDoubt #JustAddButter
Kebab, Ölüdeniz, Turska
Mamoul keksi, Jordan
I'm going to Jordan 🇯🇴 with @visitjordan in two days! Here is a #GirlEatWorld by @sceatheworld at the desert of Wadi Rum when she went a few months ago. This is Ma'amoul, aka Dates cookies that are very popular in Levantine countries such as Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. The thousands of palm trees around the desert of Jordan results in great varieties of dates, from blonde to dark to the almighty Majdool date, the king of all dates. I can't wait to explore Amman, Jerash, the Dead Sea, Dana, and of course, the majestic Petra!! I have also been dilligently watching @migrationology's Jordan foodlogs on youtube too to prepare myself for all the delicious Jordanian cuisine ☺️
Macaronsi, Zurich, Švicarska
Gai Daan Jai (vafli), Hong Kong
Dear Hong Kong, thank you for being my home for the past two weeks while I am here for work! Since i have been to Hong Kong so many times, i feel like i have tried all the traditional snacks. But fear not, here is something a bit different – this is a modern take on the well-loved traditional snack Gai Daan Zai (also called eggette) from @oddiesfoodies in Wan Chai. Their eggettes have different flavors combined with yummy ice cream, making it a very unique complex dessert! The one I had is called "The Night Wolf", which is chocolate chip eggette served with 66% dark chocolate gelato, brownies, passion fruit panna cotta, carmelized banana ice cream and crunchy flakes. Winner! (Thanks @cultoflee and @nativenowhere for taking me here 😊) #notsponsored #GirlEatHK
